The Richard Schultz Furniture 1966 collection was created that same year at the request of Florence Knoll, who wanted durable outdoor furniture well designed to withstand the corrosive salt air of Florida. The line was later re-engineered and reissued by Richard Schultz to incorporate the best modern materials, including teflon and stainless steel.
The 1966 outdoor seating collection has been chosen for inclusion in various museums, including the Permanent Design Collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York (MoMA).
